The Latest News!
The opening of the 2012 Season was a great success.  There was plenty of rugby (maybe a little too much for some) at the Sacramento Kick-Off Tournament this last weekend.  All the Dixon Teams did extremely well.  We have a few bumps and bruises, but all in all, what a great weekend of rugby.

VARSITY GOLD – The roster for Saturday’s Conference Match against the PITS will be announced at practice.  This player list will also be the initial players that are invited to attend the San Diego Tour next weekend.  There will be an additional ten (10) players that will be on the “Possible List”, which means if one or more of the 23 players invited cannot attend for any reason, they will be invited in an order that makes sense for the team, usually dependent on positional needs.  The San Diego Tour will cost each player $100 plus spending money, and we recommend $50 minimum.  We will send out more information later this week to the players about the Tour.  This weekend Conference Match against the PITS is at Hall Park and begins at 1:30 pm.  They need to be at the field at least one (1) hour before the match.
VARSITY SILVER – Some of the Varsity Silver players will be on the San Diego Tour Roster for next weekend, and we will let them know tomorrow at practice.  See the Varsity Gold information above for details.  They have a Conference Match this Friday against Nevada that starts at 7:00 pm at Hall Park.  They need to be there at least one (1) hour before the match.
VARSITY GIRLS – They have a Conference Match against Chico on Saturday at 11:00 am at Bidwell Junior High School in Chico.  Travel arrangements will be announced at practice.
JUNIOR VARSITY (JV) GOLD / SILVER – The JV Team will be combined this week and we are hoping to have a JV Match against Nevada on Friday, although it is unclear if they have the numbers for a Team.  They may bring less than a full Team and we can supplement them in order to play.  If we do have a match it will likely be on Friday at 5:30 pm, but we will need to confirm this in the next day or two.  We will keep you posted,
MIDDLE SCHOOL – They play two (2) Conference Matches against Mother Lode on Sunday in Cameron Park.  We are trying to confirm the time of the matches and will keep you posted.
UNDER 12 – They have a Round Robin in Cameron Park on Sunday and we are trying to confirm the times.  We will keep you posted.

Fundraising Activities!
The Annual Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser is this Friday and your player was given five (5) tickets to sell for $50 ($10/each).  They are REQUIRED to sell these tickets and turn in the $50 before the dinner this Friday.  If they sell more than that, half (½) of the additional revenue can offset their dues or other costs, such as paraphernalia or tours.  We also need volunteers to help on Friday as it is our biggest fundraising event of the year.  Please contact Monica Ruiz at monicaruiz707@yahoo.com if you can help.

Annual Dues!
The $250 Annual Dues are due!
Please write a check to DRFC or bring cash.  The dues pay for all league and officiating dues/costs, their entire rugby kit (sweat top, jersey, shorts and socks), team equipment, etc.  If you have a financial problem and cannot afford paying the entire $250 please let us know and we will work out a plan that works for you.  However, the player must pay something, whatever they can afford, on Wednesday, otherwise they cannot get their gear.  Also, they need to have all their sign-up paperwork submitted by this time.

Board Meeting
Our DRFC Board Meeting is the 1st Thursday of every month.  The next meeting will be the regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, February 2, 2012, at 6:30 pm at Salaber Associates, Inc. office, located at 180 South First Street, Suite 10.  The meetings are only one (1) hour long.  We are always looking for help with team issues, and particularly more members on the committees: fundraising, social, public relations and management.  Please attend, it is as much a part of the rugby program as the coaches and players.
