About Dixon Rugby Football Club (DRFC)

The DRFC was established in 2006 and is entering its fifth full year of competition. From its humble beginning, the program has grown into a well known and respected club in Northern California.

Rugby is considered a true international and fraternal sport, played in more than 100 countries worldwide. It is also one of the fastest growing sports in America, with more than 400 high schools fielding teams nationwide. In addition, with equally as many colleges playing the sport, at ever increasing levels of competition, rugby is fast becoming a door opener and differentiator for student athletes trying to get into college.

We expect to have six (6) Teams for the 2012 Season
  • Under 12
  • Middle School
  • Boys Junior Varsity
  • Boys Varsity Gold – Single School (Dixon High)
  • Boys Varsity Silver – Multi School (various high schools and homeschooled in the area)
  • Girls Varsity
The Junior Varsity team did extremely well in the 2011 season. They were recognized as one of the top three squads in the conference. Most of the players are returning from last year and they have their sights set on winning the Junior Varsity conference this upcoming season.

Last season was the Varsity teams third year in the “A” Division of the Sacramento Valley High School Rugby Conference (SVHSRC), and attained the Conference Playoffs. Dixon competes against some of the best high school teams in the country, such as Jesuit High.

Northern California Youth Rugby Association
The DRFC is part of the newly established Northern California Youth Rugby Association (NCYRA), which is the State Based Rugby Organization (SBRO) sanction by USA Rugby, the national rugby body. The NCYRA is one of the largest SBROs in the United States, with more than 60 Clubs, 130 Teams, playing in nine (9) Divisions from Under 8 through High School.
